Amended Local Rules of the North Carolina Business Court (2006)

The North Carolina Business Court is a specialized forum of the North Carolina State Courts’ trial division. Cases involving complex and significant issues of corporate and commercial law in our state are assigned by the Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court to a special superior court judge who oversees resolution of all matters in the case through trial.

The North Carolina Legislature has increased the fee for removing cases to the Business Court. Effective September 1, 2009, the fee will be $1,000.00. Counsel are reminded that the fee is payable to the Clerk of Court in the County in which the case is pending.

The e-filing system will be unavailable from midnight to 6:00 a.m. on Sundays and from 6:00 a.m. to noon on the third Sunday of each month due to routine server maintenance. E-notices for Sunday filings may be delayed until the following morning. Please plan your e-filing activities accordingly.

The 2009 Report to the General Assembly is now available.

Failure to properly and timely serve a Notice of Designation on the Chief Justice and Senior Business Court Judge will result in rejection of the Notice by the Business Court. See N.C. Gen. Stat. § 7A-45.4(b).

The Court requests that all proposed orders be filed in Rich Text Format (RTF), rather than Portable Document Format (PDF).
